What is Aliki Paros like?

Aliki Paros is a small village on the south coast of Paros, away from the main tourist centres of Parikia and Naoussa on Paros Island. It attracts visitors looking for a quieter base on Paros but with plenty to do and see – it is still relatively easy to visit the other areas by car although public transport will require some planning.

There are plenty of places to stay at Aliki without the large complexes or luxury options found elsewhere on Paros. There are enough eating options to keep you satisfied and some of these are covered below. Of course there are also several options for sun and swimming close by and others not too far away.

Best Aliki Paros beaches

Piso Aliki

Piso Aliki is just to the south of the village and is possibly the most popular beach. It is quite open and unorganised so bring your own shade. The beach itself is a sand/pebble mixture so pick your spot carefully, but the water is generally very clean and refreshing. There is also plenty of parking behind the beach and some limited toilet/shower facilities.

Paralia Aliki

This small attractive cove is a bit dominated by boats but does offer the option for families to sit at one of the eating spots while the kids have a splash in the water. Its a sandy beach but the sand is compacted rather than soft so perhaps better for play/strolling rather than a relaxing sunbathe. But as mentioned there are lots of places around for lunch and snacks.

Agios Nikolaos

Agios Nikolaos is just to the west of the village and is another predominately sandy beach (some pebbles in the shallows to avoid) with some trees for shade (but not many) and not organised – so plenty of room. There’s a kids park/basketball court just behind if the kids are looking for that sort of distraction from the beach.

Makra Miti

Makra Miti is one for those who like the rocky isolated coves – not really one for families. It’s small and can be wild so one for a look and a swim if you’re keen.

Faragas Beach

Faragas Beach Paros is a lovely sandy beach just to the east of Aliki Paros. But in contrast to others mentioned so far, there is a beach bar here which occupies up to half the beach, pumps out music and charges 50 euros for beds. Of course you can take your towel and utilise the sandy area outside the bar but just be aware that it can get crowded and noisy. And the food from the bar is also quite expensive.

Tripiti Beach

There are actually 2 beaches with the Tripiti name , both are mixed sand/pebble with limited shade but a bit protected from northerlies. The first one (Tripiti 2 on maps) you come to travelling east from Aliki has a giant fig tree as a landmark and is accessible down a dirt road – parking is not obvious so be careful where you leave the car. The second beach has somewhat better access/parking but is similar in nature – bring your own comforts!

Glifa Beach

Just below Glifa village is Glifa Beach. Here there are quite a few trees for shade and a decent taverna behind the beach. Another mixed pebbly/sandy beach with good snorkelling viewing around the rocks.

Voutakos Beach

To the north west of Aliki you’ll find Voutakos Beach. Perhaps not the cleanest of the beaches mentioned here and in the shadow of the airport. Not recommended.

Best Aliki Paros restaurants

Thalassamou

If you’ve always fancied eating right on the beach under the shade of a few trees then this is one of the best places to do it. Thalassamou is located at the eastern end of Piso Aliki beach. Marios is the owner/chef serving up a menu of inventive dishes based on Greek favourites. The simpler dishes tend to be the favourites here but the setting is always a winner.

Aliki Restaurant

A popular harbourside restaurant often displaying octopus drying in the sun on racks outside. Plenty of seafood options on the menu (linguini is good) alongside all the usual Greek favourites.

To Balcony tou Aki

Along the harbourside from Aliki and having some tables right on the water is To Balcony which can offer a lovely sunset experience when the weather is co-operating (i.e. not too windy). Again lots of seafood dishes on the menu along with the traditional favourites. Cats can be a bit aggressive 🙂

Veggera

Veggera is a more casual all-day eatery so if you’re looking for breakfast, this is a good choice. Also open through lunch and dinner.

Best Coffee in Aliki Paros

Kalimera Coffee

Kalimera provides a good cup of coffee with all the usual options as well as sandwiches/snacks for take away. There’s also a mini-market for any other supply needs.

Best places to stay in Aliki Paros

Aliki Paros accommodation options are more in the traditional hotel/rooms/studios style than some of the villas popping up around Naoussa but that may suit the type of person who is considering Aliki for a quieter stay away from the crowds.

Parosland

Parosland Aliki is a 4 start hotel set in an olive grove garden setting and in a quiet location about 5 minutes away from Aliki village. It has a pool with the Elaionas Restaurant overlooking the pool and a variety of room configurations for all sized parties.

Evi Rooms share affiliation with Parosland and guests can use Parosland facilities , so that may be another option.

Dahlia Apartments

Dahlia Apartments are not far from Parosland and are worth considering, again with a pool on the premises. See if you can get a room slightly away from the street traffic noise. Otherwise it is an easy stroll into Aliki for all your needs.

Maria’s Village

A popular set of villas in a central position with lovely views. Lots of repeat visitors here so that must mean something.

Getting to Aliki

Port (Parikia) to Aliki

It takes around 15 minutes to get from Parikia to Aliki – a taxi will cost around 25 Euros. There is also a bus service but it is fairly infrequent – cost is around 5 euros.

Paros Airport to Aliki

Paros Airport is fairly close to Aliki and it only takes around 10 minutes by car or taxi.

Naoussa to Aliki

Naoussa is in the north of Paros and this trip will take around 30 minutes by car, skirting around the island ring road.

Aliki Car Rental

If you’re going to be driving yourself around Paros, you’ll probably arrange a rental for collection at either the port (Parikia) or Paros Airport. Most agencies will arrange to have your car ready for collection at your arrival whene you pre book. But if you find you need to get a car while in Parikia then Chaniotis have an office located at Aliki for convenience. They also offer scooters.

Aliki is also a good point to take a boat tour from – Michael Zeppos is one company that offers an outing on a caique-style boat for a day or evening cruise and visits hidden caves, deserted beaches and lays on simple Greek food and drinks.
